Description
In Pilates and floor work, your hands and feet often stay in the same place for a long time. A plastic-coated surface starts to slip as soon as sweat appears. Suede does the opposite: the wetter the surface becomes, the more it grips.
This mat has a rubber base and a suede or PU surface, depending on the finish. The rubber underside stops the mat from moving across parquet or tiled floors while you work.
There are many finishes, including striped suede prints in green, blue, coffee, purple, orange, brown and multicolour, as well as plain PU versions. The print is striped.
It weighs 520 grams, considerably less than a thick mat, so you can roll it up and take it to class without carrying a bulky item.

Frequently asked questions
- Why does it grip more when you sweat?
- This is a characteristic of suede: moisture increases the surface friction instead of reducing it, unlike a plastic-coated layer. That is why it is used in Pilates and dynamic yoga mats.
- What is the difference between the suede and PU finishes?
- Suede provides more grip when wet and has a textile feel. PU is smooth, easier to clean with one wipe and has a uniform appearance. The rubber base is the same.
- How do you clean it?
- Use a well-wrung damp cloth and neutral soap, then leave it flat to dry before rolling it up. Suede must not be immersed or put in a washing machine.
- Does it provide the same cushioning as a thick mat?
- Not as much. It is a thin mat designed for grip and floor work. If you need cushioning for your knees or spine, a mat of 6 mm or more is better.
