You sleep in a mask and wake up with marks around your eyes, or notice that the fabric has been pulling at your skin all night. Polyester does not glide: it grips the skin and drags with every turn.
This mask is made from 100% mulberry silk on both sides. Silk glides instead of gripping, so it does not drag your skin when you change position. The weight is 16 momme, a medium-high density that blocks light without becoming rigid.
The finish is smooth, with no pronounced inner seams or filling. It weighs 50 grams, so you barely notice you are wearing it, and it takes up about as much space as a folded scarf.
There are ten colours, from black to dusty pink. It is the kind of accessory you end up taking with you when you travel.

- What is momme weight?
- It is the unit used to measure the density of silk. Sixteen momme is a medium-high density: enough to block light and allow the fabric to drape well, without becoming as rigid as higher weights.
- How do you wash it?
- Wash it by hand in cold water with a mild soap or a product made specifically for silk. Do not wring it, use bleach or dry it in direct sunlight. Silk does not handle hot water or a tumble dryer well.
- Is it made from silk inside and out?
- Yes, it is double-sided. Many sleep masks use silk only on the outside and polyester on the side that touches your skin, which is the side that matters.
- Does it block out all the light?
- It blocks most of it. At 16 momme and without filling, some light may come through the edges in a very bright room, especially around the bridge of your nose. If you want total darkness, a shaped-cup model fits more closely.
